Patience Can Be A Challenge

Well, Howard became an old fart and eligible for Medicare. So, he figured it was about time that he got his shoulder fixed. He had a large tear in his left rotator cuff. An outpatient orthoscopic surgery was performed on May 17th. He ended up with 6 holes. The surgery was the easy part. The recovery has been challenging. Patience is not one of Howard's strong suits. For the last 6 weeks he has had his arm in a sling. Today, he finally was free of the sling. Now all he has to do is start to build back the muscle tone that has all gone to flab. His rotation is doing great as long as it is with assistance (I have been his PT nurse much of this time as we have been traveling). Needless to say, he has not been overly patient with his progress. He wants more - right now - back to normal as quickly as possible. Not going to happen. It is a 6 month process at the least.

During this time period, we went to Park City, UT for a time share vacation week. Sharon & Al Glickman joined us there part of the time. We have come to the conclusion that we will need to go back to Park City next year during the summer to do all of the things that we didn't get to do this time (hike, zip line, toboggan run with a professional, etc. etc.)

However, we did accomplish something that I have wanted to do for a long time. We went to the Genealogy Family History Center of the Mormon Church in Salt Lake City. I was fortunate to be able to document information on my fathers side of the family. I am really excited. We are planning another short stop in Salt Lake later this month so that I can do some International research. As it stands right now, both Howard & I can trace our family names back to our Great Grandparents. I am excited.

In August, we are off to Asheville, NC for a month long assignment. This is going to be right near the Biltmore Estates which I understand is a wonderful place to visit. While we are there we will also be teaching a class on Interim Innkeeping.

What a life - we are just busy little bees.
