Having a JOB doesn't make your money grow.

So, how long will you live and will you have enough money to see you through your golden years? That is the burning question that has raised its head for us this year. We have taken a hard look at what we have in our retirement account and have determined that it probably is lacking. We also have taken a hard look at some of the "truths" that we were raised on and determined that they also were not the best advice we could have gotten from our parents - nor should we be giving to our daughter and her family.

We came from the generation where you were told, get good grades in high school, so you could get into the college of your choice. Then do well in college so you could get a good job and have a good salary. However, the "boss" never really has your future in mind. They are always looking out for the company and the bottom line.

So who looks out for us? We are the only ones who can do that. How do we do that? That is the question that has occupied our minds these last two months. To that end, we have started on a new path - education on learning to become a millionaire. There are many books out there, but the bottom line is that you need a mentor (real live person you can interact with) who already is wealthy. Someone you can learn from who can teach you the process they used. It is not just luck. There is a system that wealthy people use to make them more wealth. We all have the ability to use this same system, we just need to plug in.

Yes, we owned our own company, and worked hard. But when we sold that company to semi retire, we still were at the same point money wise as before. Nothing had really grown. So, we have begun to break out of our tried and true molds that haven't gotten us anywhere. If what you have learned your whole life isn't working, it is time to get off that track and try a new road. So in our semi retirement years, we are starting anew. Going back to "school" and trying new things. It will be an interesting journey.
