Day 2 Nice Old Town etc
The old town of Nice is composed of a warren of small narrow streets. There are limited cars so you can weave your way around. Signage is a challenge, if you are looking for a street address. Google maps is your friend in walking mode. We visited the food and flower market, looked at the outside of some buildings, found the ice cream stand in the Plaza (over 100 flavors), observed the way people in the apartments above the stores do laundry and saw where the artist Matisse lived (big yellow house).
Lynda continued her tradition of buying a tea towel to commemorate our visit. The one good thing is that the towels we acquire get used all the time, They don’t sit in a drawer. After the tour finished, we wound our way over to Castle Hill. However, we didn’t climb all the stairs, we took the lift to the top. Great view of the harbor from the top.
Finally made our way to a restaurant Lynda had researched - Chez Acchiard. Lynda had thin pieces of raw beef which had been smoked for over two months on a salad. Howard had an omelette, which actually turned out to be a crustless quiche. Both were delicious. Stopped at Angea’s Bar a Macarons store. The macarons just melted in your mouthReturned to the hotel for a well needed nap for Howard while Lynda finally had a chance to organize our suitcases. We had to put up with rain as we walked to our dinner at Le Bistroi. They were noted for their fondue. However, their French version has a large crepe that is filled with a fondue mixture. It was delicious, just not what Lynda was expecting. For dessert, another first. We ordered Taramisu. It was different than what we expected as it came in a small mason type jar. It was good to the last drop.
By the time we were ready to leave, it was raining really hard with lightning and thunder. We opted for a Bolt ride (same type of ride as Uber but only in Europe) and headed back to the hotel.
Cheers

Your trip looks fantastic. Lynda, you have done a great job on your blog. I have been following along and feel like I’m right there with you. Wonderful, wonderful time. Melissa and I have speculated. That people looking at you too think you are a cute little old couple. Little do they know you have always been like this. Melissa said Howard always commented on something growing hair on your chest. She says that she couldn’t figure it out until she was about 10 when she realized he was teasing her. You guys of always added fun to our lives. And you are doing so now. We hope you have loads of fun and can’t wait for the next chapter. Love you.
